Conferences, seminars and training sessions

We all know that Latin America is one of the largest exporting regions of feed materials and ingredients in the world, and it still holds huge potential. We have observed a significant increase in GMP+ participation in the region, particularly in Brazil, Argentina, and Peru. We appreciate VICTAM's efforts to bring their events closer to stakeholders, whether they are in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. As part of this initiative. For VICTAM LatAm event, GMP+ International will organize a seminar with ANEC and ABIOVE dubbed as Latin America Feed Safety: Challenges & Initiatives to align globally.”

Protecting Process Equipment from Combustible Dust Explosions

TOPICS

Dodge Extended Life Solutions for Grain Handling Equipment

We will explain Dodge products differentiators which help to reduce installation, maintenance and downtome.

Maintaining Grain Quality in Tropical Weather through Technology

Storing grain and oilseeds in tropical weather locations has its challenges due to the difficult conditions of temperature and relative humidity. Using sensors to monitor grain quality and to trigger the use of optimal management practices are great tools to maintain the quality using collected data in real time.

Protecting process equipment from combustible dust explosions

In almost all grain production chain, from warehouses, through processing industries, we are surrounded by equipment that requires special care in regarding the risks of explosions with combustible dust, and among these equipment the most common are bucket elevators, dust collectors, mills, deposits or storage silos, enclosed conveyors and mixers. IEP Technologies will discuss over these risks and ways to prevent and protect from them.

SUBJECTS

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN PIG AND POULTRY NUTRITION - SUSTAINABILITY -

Currently, there are several strategies that the nutritionist can use to improve sustainability in the nutrition and feeding of broilers and growing pigs.

Improving feed conversion is directly related to reduced environmental impact.

Implementing an efficient ingredient and feed quality control program minimizes nutrient excesses and deficiencies.

Diets for broiler chickens and growing pigs must be calculated based on nutritional requirements with no safety margin.

Multiphase feeding programs, or the implementation of precision feeding, are excellent tools for improving sustainability.

Dietary protein reduction combined with the use of ideal protein and industrial amino acids showed excellent performance and significant reduction of nitrogen excretion.

The utilization of enzymes such as proteases, xylanases and phytases in diets, increases nutrient retention and decreases nitrogen and phosphorus excretion.

Mycotoxin control and feed safety in South America: state of the art

The presence of mycotoxins is a recurring theme that was historically identified solely through the lesions they caused in various animal species. Presently, the concern extends beyond mere lesions; the primary problem linked to their presence is the economic impact, spanning various animal species, age groups, uses, and other factors that complicate effective management.

In recent years, the focus has shifted towards creating alert systems, which are now common practice in various production stages. Although mycotoxins are often considered an internal issue within a company, they frequently do not originate at the food production site. Hence, the recent trend is to innovate in raw material selection to reduce the costs associated with mycotoxin mitigation, without compromising productivity and nutritional quality – the primary goals of animal production.

For over a decade, the first studies integrating a holistic production chain approach have been initiated, considering genetic material based on productivity, nutrition, and mycotoxin presence. The significant gains and differences observed among hybrid genetics suggest unexplored opportunities to achieve more robust economic outcomes in animal protein production.

However, challenges persist, especially in the pre-production of animal feed. Safe storage is a critical step, requiring controls both in production and storage. Here, sample collection followed by analysis plays a pivotal role, providing essential economic information, including physical, bromatological, and mycotoxicological assessments of raw materials. Only after this process do we enter the phase of feed production, employing various analytical methods, from traditional and precise ones like HPLC coupled with mass spectrometry, to secondary methods based on antibodies, and modern technologies such as NIRS.

Yet, the greatest challenge lies in data analysis. Interpretation demands complex algorithms, mastered by a few companies. Evaluation involves initially assessing the economic risk associated with mycotoxins, and subsequently determining the best mitigation strategy. This might involve segregation or the use of antimycotoxin additives. Importantly, outcomes in animals (in vivo) often do not match the desired effectiveness.

In summary, mycotoxin-related issues are multifaceted and necessitate comprehensive approaches, from raw material production to data analysis and mitigation strategies, to address challenges in achieving desired economic and safety outcomes.

About the programme:

Commodities, supplies and materials for feed and food production is diverse and dynamic. Because of this, the industry is vulnerable for many risks, hazards and other factors such as disruption from conflicts, trade war, natural calamities and even difference on legislations.

Understanding the product’s country-of-origin and country-of-destination is very important. We are able to take actions in keeping the products safe and handle at the level it is acceptable for either feed or food production.

Latin America is one of the largest regions that supply raw materials and ingredients not only for animal feed production but also food for human consumption. During the programme, we will zoom -into the market situation of Latin America and together with our invited speakers, we aim to understand the market and how to address the feed safety issues for the whole feed supply chain. We encourage the audience to join the open dialogue.

Note: Programme will be in English language.

I started my career in industrial agriculture as a parts counter salesperson for power transmission parts and bulk handling equipment parts. I’ve worked along-side millwrights doing installation and repair of bulk handling equipment. I’ve called on customer in numerous states and Canada which has provided hundreds of opportunities to spend time in grain facilities, feed mills, seed processing facilities, flour mills, aggregate processing facilities and many more. Now as a Technical Sales Specialist for Maxi-Lift I focus on bucket elevator components. My background allows me to provide technical support and troubleshooting advice because of my knowledge of the rest of the customer’s facility.

Simulation Technologies in Solid Bulk Handling

TOPICS

Combustible Dust Safety in the Grain Industry

Discussion on what is combustible dust, what hazards exist in the grain and food industries, and how to address these hazards for a safer process.

Solutions for Silo Bridging

This session will review various means for silo unloading of hard to flow products such as meals, bran and out of speciation grains.  The discussion is geared towards operators, maintenance staff with safety in mind.

How to get the Most Production from your Bucket Elevators

Getting the most production from your bucket elevators requires looking at a lot of different factors. It’s important to understand how some minor parts of a bucket elevator can have a major effect on production. Getting more capacity from your bucket elevators will require looking at all the features of the bucket elevator as well as equipment that feeds it and takes away from the bucket elevator. Regular meaningful inspections and troubleshooting current problems can make a big difference in the production of your bucket elevator. Ongoing training of current and new staff is vital to get the most production of your bucket elevators.

Simulation Technologies in Solid Bulk Handling

In the current market of bulk solid handling, historical experiences often form the basis for equipment dimensioning. However, the emergence of technology has brought advanced computer simulation tools. When combined with expertise, these tools open the door to a more intricate exploration of equipment performance. Ucelo's engineering leverages these simulation tools in conjunction with our team's expertise and exclusive methodology. This approach showcases a substantial portfolio of projects undertaken in important companies. These achievements encompass expanded conveyor capacities and heightened reliability, as well as enhanced failure prevention in new projects.

During this session we will delve into the concept of simulation and its contemporary relevance in aiding our endeavors.
